Give in a team committed to the best outcomes for patients

Our core purpose is to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of people in Aotearoa. We operate with a not-for-profit ethos, with our profits remaining in New Zealand and reinvested in healthcare infrustructure, workforce and community health initiatives.

Our 3000 strong team includes 1600 passionate nurses and anaesthetic technicians, working alongside the 1200 medical specialists who are credentialled to operate at our hospitals.

The broader Southern Cross Healthcare network is New Zealand’s largest independent healthcare network; comprised of our wholly-owned and joint venture hospitals, specialist centres, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and workplace wellness providers across New Zealand.

This is an exciting time to join us, as we embark on our next stage of growth; focused on providing people-centred health care services to enhance patient journeys and health outcomes.

Thrive in a collaborative and supportive team environment

With an inclusive culture and diverse team, we actively promote a values-led workplace which embraces our core values - responsibility, respect, teamwork and aspiration.

We invite you to join us if you're a high-performing team player who shares our values and is passionate about making a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders.

Opportunities exist in our surgical hospitals and support offices for theatre nurses, nurse educators, clinical and quality roles, ward nurses, anaesthetic technicians, sterile service specialists, health care assistants, and support functions from facilities management to digital services. Shine in an environment which encourages and enables you to be your best

We foster high performing teams by supporting your success, encouraging skills growth, and providing opportunities to pursue continuous professional and personal development.

Committed to developing New Zealand’s surgical nursing workforce, our Nursing Council accredited Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) assesses practice against competencies.

We also identify future leaders across our business and deliver growth programmes for talent throughout the organisation, including Māori nurse development.

Training for nurses new to theatre

In a New Zealand first, Southern Cross Healthcare has launched Perioperative Training for nurses new to working in operating theatres. This programme covers admission, anaesthesia, surgery and recovery nursing which is delivered through sequenced AORN modules and videos. We also work with partners to offer fully simulated theatre and lab environments where nurses can practice the skills they learn before entering a theatre. This programme provides quality assurance and supports new to theatre nurses.
